Protecting our rugby community’s hearts and minds through cardiac screening and mental wellbeing provision
We are The Richmond Heavies Foundation – the heart of the Richmond rugby family.
The Foundation was born out of the unconnected premature deaths of three amazing guys closely connected to the Heavies (over 35s team) within six weeks of each other in 2018.
Our purpose is to extend lives and prevent avoidable early deaths by facilitating cardiac screening; provide access to free, confidential mental wellbeing services; and increase general health awareness – physical, mental and emotional.
Over the last few years we have:
- delivered over 1000 cardiac screenings
- provided a mental wellbeing program to 2500 of our rugby community
- installed defibrillators in over 60 rugby clubs and public spaces up and down the country.
